Laos, China deepen cooperation in international logistics, promote supply chain integration

VIENTIANE: A conference aimed at deepening cooperation in international logistics and promoting supply chain integration between China and Laos was successfully held in Vientiane on Saturday (April 26).

“The China (Chengdu)–Laos International Logistics Supply Chain Integration and Development Conference” was hosted by the Chengdu Municipal Port and Logistics Office and the People’s Government of Qingbaijiang district.

It was organised by the Administrative Committee of the Chengdu International Railway Port Economic and Technological Development Zone, the Chengdu Foreign Economic and Trade Promotion Association, and the Chengdu Supply Chain Association, with support from the Laos Sichuan Chamber of Commerce.

The conference showcased Chengdu’s strengths as an emerging international logistics hub.

Key highlights included the city’s favourable logistics business environment, the strategic role of the Chengdu International Railway Port, and the development of the “Belt and Road” Chengdu International Supply Chain Service Station.

The event, which served as a platform for cross-border investment and cooperation, facilitated active engagement between Chinese and Lao enterprises involved in commerce, logistics and industrial development.

Participants conducted supply-demand matchmaking sessions and signed multiple cooperation agreements.

Speaking at the conference, the Vice President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), Mr Bounleuth Luangpaseuth, praised the pivotal role of the China-Laos Railway in boosting bilateral trade.

He announced plans to establish a liaison office in Chengdu to strengthen cooperation between Laos and Chengdu in logistics, agriculture, cultural tourism and other key sectors. - Vientiane Times/ANN
