JAKARTA: The government is working to send hundreds of thousands of its citizens overseas to fulfill demand for 1.7 million migrant workers this year, while avoiding certain countries with recorded cases of trafficking in Indonesian workers.

Migrant Workers Protection Minister Abdul Kadir Karding, who hails from the National Awakening Party (PKB), said his ministry planned to dispatch by the end of this year 25 per cent of the total demand, or around 400,000 workers.
