15 people killed in road accidents during Lao New Year holidays


VIENTIANE (Xinhua): A total of 15 people were killed in road accidents across Laos during the celebrations of the Lao New Year from April 14 to 16.

According to the Lao Security News report on Thursday, a total of 169 accidents were recorded across the country during the cited period.

Meanwhile, 302 people were injured and 290 vehicles were damaged in the road accidents.

The Lao New Year is the most important festival in the Lao calendar. 

The Lao government has issued guidelines for the 2025 Lao New Year celebrations, highlighting the importance of cultural preservation, safety, and moderation throughout the festivities.

This year, Laos' Ministry of Public Security took additional measures to enhance road safety and ensure a peaceful and joyful celebration. - Xinhua
