Five Malaysians suffer minor injuries in Tokyo bus crash


KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Five Malaysians sustained minor injuries in a tour bus collision on the Chuo Expressway in Hachioji, western Tokyo, on Saturday.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said it is closely monitoring the situation through the Malaysian embassy in Tokyo.

"The Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo has confirmed that five Malaysian nationals were on board the two buses.

"All five sustained minor injuries. After receiving treatments at hospitals, they had been sent back to their hotel,” the statement said.

The ministry stated that the incident occurred at 10.15 am near the entrance of the Kobotoke Tunnel. 

It involved two buses carrying 47 passengers which were mostly foreign nationals, travelling from JR Tokyo Station en route to Lake Kawaguchi in Yamanashi Prefecture.

According to local authorities, the incident happened when one bus rear-ended the other. - Bernama
