North calls out ‘usurper’ US over land grab plans

The North’s state media condemned Donald Trump’s proposal to take over the devastated Gaza Strip – and gain control of other territories including Greenland and the Panama Canal – as invasive, calling the US a “usurper” that violates the rights of other countries for its own interests.

North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency said in a commentary yesterday that Trump’s plan to displace residents from the strip and have the US take over the area is an attempt to expand its influence over the Middle East.

“This is the US, a cruel and wicked usurper that not only violates the lives and rights of other countries and people, but also steals their territory and sovereignty whenever that suits its interest,” the commentary said.

The comments come a day after Pyongyang bristled at the arrival of a US nuclear-powered submarine at South Korea’s southeastern port of Busan this week, as it vowed to exercise its “right to punish the provokers.”

“The US should wake up from its anachronistic delusions and stop violating the dignity and sovereignty of other countries,” the commentary said. — Bloomberg
