Brunei prison warden jailed for abuse of power


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A 33-year-old prison warden has been sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to charges under Section 6(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Chapter 131.

The Magistrate’s Court heard that Mohammad Azizan Liusin, assigned to Maraburong Prison, facilitated unauthorised communications between a prisoner and external parties through letters without approval from the Officer-in-Charge of the Prisons Department.
