Lao police crack down on over 7,000 criminal cases in 2024


VIENTIANE (Xinhua): Police across Laos handled a total of 7,350 criminal cases in 2024, of which 6,519 cases were resolved, mostly in relation to drug dealing and trafficking.

More than half of the cases were drug-related, with 3,771 cases concerning the consumption, possession, sale or trafficking of drugs.

According to a report from the Lao Ministry of Public Security on Saturday, 9,860 people were arrested during investigations, 344 of whom were foreign nationals.

In 2025, the ministry will remain focused on maintaining law and order, striving to reduce injustice in society by using every available measure to prevent and suppress crime in a comprehensive and resolute manner, while strictly adhering to the law. - Xinhua
