BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Four Bruneian athletes completed the challenging Ironman race in Busselton, Western Australia.

They covered the 3.8-kilometre swim, 180km bike ride and 42.2km run within the 17-hour time limit, finishing the race in approximately 14-15 hours.

This brings the total number of Bruneian Ironman finishers to 27 since 2002.

The four athletes are Mahirah Ismail, Yusra Yakub, Zainal Azim Zainal Abidin, and Alisa Lau. Additionally, Nur Sabiqah Rosli completed the Ironman 70.3 (half-distance) race on the same day.

It is hoped that this achievement will inspire more Bruneians to participate in multi-sport events. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
