SINGAPORE: A woman who was previously charged with cheating a woman in a Taylor Swift concert ticket scam now faces charges involving more than $119,000 and 82 victims.

Foo Mei Qi, 29, was hauled to court on Sept 19 and handed two new cheating charges.

She was handed her first cheating charge in March for allegedly duping a woman into transferring her $350 in September 2023 by deceiving her into believing that she was selling tickets to Taylor Swift’s concert here.

This charge was amended on Sept 19 to state that she allegedly cheated 76 victims of more than $110,700 from June 2023 to February 2024.

Her two new charges involve six victims in total.

According to charge sheets, Foo allegedly cheated three victims of $7,780 by claiming she was selling Taylor Swift concert tickets between September 2023 and February 2024.

In March 2024, Taylor Swift performed The Eras Tour across six nights in Singapore, which was her only stop in South-east Asia.

Foo is also said to have cheated another three victims in January 2024 into believing that she would sell them tickets to see Bruno Mars in concert. These victims then paid her a total of $1,039.

American pop star Bruno Mars performed in Singapore at the National Stadium on April 3, April 5 and April 6.

Foo was arrested in March after the police received multiple reports from victims who were allegedly cheated by a seller on online marketplace Carousell.

Upon receiving payment via PayNow or bank transfer, she failed to deliver the concert tickets and became uncontactable, the police had said in an earlier statement.

Foo’s pre-trial conference will take place in October. - The Straits Times/ANN
