Third Asean Women Leaders' Summit begins on Frday in Laos


VIENTIANE (Xinhua): Representatives from member states of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (Asean) attended the third Asean Women Leaders' Summit on Friday to enhance cooperation and promote the role, potential, and strength of women leaders and all women in the region.

The summit, under the theme of "Strengthening Care Economy and Resilience towards Asean Community Post-2025," was held in Lao capital Vientiane, the local Pasaxon newspaper reported.

The promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women as well as strengthening the care economy are among the priorities for Laos' Asean chairmanship in 2024.

The women leaders' summit reaffirmed Asean's commitment to supporting women and girls in the paid and unpaid caregiving economy as a key regional agenda. - Xinhua
