A FIFTH grade schoolkid has earned praise from netizens after a video clip of her feeding her baby sibling while in class went viral on social media.

The 20-second clip, which was uploaded on TikTok in May, showed the girl cradling the baby in one hand while writing with the other. The baby appeared to be calmly drinking milk from a bottle and at one point playfully poking her unfazed elder sister’s cheek.

The video has since garnered more than three million views, 226,000 likes and nearly 3,000 comments.

News outlet Thai PBS World reported that user Yingggzz, who uploaded the video, is a teacher from Ban Klong Kaem Cham School in Prachin Buri, and the girl is a fifth-grade pupil.

According to the video caption, the girl is the eldest daughter in her family and had to take care of her sibling while her mother ran errands.

“Isn’t this better than missing school to take care of your younger siblings?” it said.

Yingggzz added further context in the video description, saying she always told her pupils that they should not miss class no matter what.

“Good thing her sibling is not naughty,” she added.

Comments from TikTok users praised the girl for her efforts, calling her “strong” and “a good child” for juggling both her schoolwork and her sibling.

“When the younger sibling grows up and sees this clip, she will appreciate her older sister and love her more,” one comment said. Others commended the teacher for allowing her to bring the baby to class.

In response to one such comment, Yingggzz said the baby did not make a fuss. — The Straits Times/ANN
