Outgoing Malaysian envoy to Brunei gets a royal farewell

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei King Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah receives in audience outgoing High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah at Istana Nurul Iman in the capital.

The outgoing high commissioner presented his letter of credence to His Majesty on October 11, 2021.

Raja Reza is a seasoned Malaysian diplomat who became the high commissioner to Brunei since 2021, and ambassador to Ukraine from 2018 to 2021.

Raja Reza was also an advisor to the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta from 2007 until 2011.

After this, he served as the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations' (UN) chargé d'affaires while also holding the post of Deputy Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the UN in New York from 2013 to 2016. He was also the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, leading the Department of West Asia, from 2016 to 2018

On 1 September 2023, he expressed his pride at the 25,000-strong Malaysian population in the Sultanate, which he claimed was contributing to Brunei's growth and well-being in a spendid manner. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
