Car fells off bridge - One dead and five injured in major road crash in Philippines


MANILA (Xinhua): One person died and five others were severely injured after their car fell off a bridge in Camarines Sur province, southeast of the Philippine capital, amid a heavy downpour on Sunday morning, local media reported.

A local news outlet, quoting the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said the sedan car was traveling southbound when the accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. local time in Ragay town.

A picture of the accident showed the car landing on its roof in the shallow river below while six rescuers tried to rescue the people trapped inside the car.

The driver died at the scene, while the five injured people, including a child, were taken to a nearby hospital. - Xinhua
