Thailand sees record electricity usage in April as the heat bites

BANGKOK (The Nation Thailand/ANN): Electricity usage hit an all-time record of 36,699.9 megawatts on April 29, due to the hot weather conditions and battery-charging by electric vehicles, a senior Ministry of Energy official said.

Although there has been an increase in solar panel installations due to the decline in their prices, solar energy production is primarily effective during daylight hours, Ministry of Energy spokesperson Veerapat Kiatfuengfoo said.
