BANGKOK (The Nation Thailand/ANN): Phuket beauty Malin "Lin" Charanan was crowned Miss Grand Thailand 2024 at Bravo BKK shopping mall in Bangkok on Saturday night.

The Thai-Singaporean winner will be Thailand's representative at the Miss Grand International 2024, scheduled to be held in Myanmar in October this year.

The winner was presented with a crown worth 1.2 million baht and got 1.5 million baht as cash prize.

Pathum Thani beauty Kanphasaporn "Baifern" Rungruang was first runner-up and Chumphon beauty Kittiyaporn "Baimint" Fungmee the second runner-up.

Lampang contestant Thansita "Prada" Dilkanansakul and Maha Sarakham representative Orathai "Mei" Pangchan finished third and fourth, respectively.

Malin stood out in the final round of five with her answer to the question: "If you have a chance to tell Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin about Thai soft power promotion, which soft power will you choose and why?"

"I want to tell the Thai government that our soft power this year is Miss Grand because it is an international contest and we do not have to force the other 80 contestants to learn the Thai language or traditions," she said.

"Another thing is all sponsors of the contest will know Thai products, especially gourami fish chilli paste, which is the best seller every year,” she added.

The 27-year-old Malin graduated with a bachelor's degree from Thammasat University's Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication. She is working as an influencer and CEO of the cosmetics firm Skinboss Thailand. - The Nation Thailand/ANN
