BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Besides Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok, another city that is gaining popularity among Bruneians is Seoul, South Korea.
Teenager Ameer was greeted on arrival on Tuesday evening with snow as the temperature dropped to minus six degrees Celsius, adding that the snowy condition lasted for three days.
“The five-hour flight from Bandar Seri Begawan to Incheon airport was almost full, and I saw a steady stream of Bruneian families at the popular Myeongdong Street, which had around 100,000 visitors on Christmas Eve,” Ameer said.
“I also saw Bruneians looking for Korean cosmetics at shops like Olive Young, took pictures with replicas of K-Pop stars, visited Nami Island which was made popular by Korean dramas, and savour halal street food at Myeongdong Street,” Ameer added.
Meanwhile, fellow Bruneian Raisya said Hongdae Street, a spot frequented by the younger generation, is also popular among Bruneians.
She added, “I was astonished by the way hotels in South Korea promote sustainability. With more accommodation embracing sustainability, you don’t have to look far to find a sustainable hotel and travel while doing your part for the planet.
