Big controversy as Brunei's football association president suspended, general secretary sacked

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): The President of the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) Haji Matusin has been suspended from his duties by the FABD Executive Committee, as stated in a press release from the organization.

According to the local daily Borneo Bulletin on Friday, the executive committee also declared the dismissal of Mohammad Shahnon from his role as the FABD's general secretary.

The executive committee justified the suspension under the FABD Constitution.

"The congress is responsible for suspending a member. The executive committee may, however, suspend a member that seriously violates their obligations with immediate effect," said the press release.

Additionally, the FABD announced the postponement of its election and congress, originally scheduled on Nov. 18, until further notice. - Xinhua
