HONG KONG (China Daily/Asia News Network): The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government plans to import over 10,000 workers to address the severe manpower shortages in the construction, aviation and transportation sectors, according to local media reports.
The workers will be brought in through a special programme that was previously used to import care workers. The programme aims to provide greater flexibility and more streamlined procedures for importing overseas labour.
