Semarang Police chief Sr. Comr. Irwan Anwar said the suspect had been detained for questioning.

The girl died at St. Elisabeth Hospital in Semarang, Central Java, after having convulsions in a room rented by the suspect in a rooming house for the night on Jl. Pawiyatan Luhur.

Irwan said the girl and the man had only known each other for two weeks after chatting on Instagram. They had met each other for the first time on the day of the incident.
