Over 160,000 students sit for matriculation exam in Myanmar


YANGON (Xinhua): A total of 161,851 students on Wednesday (March 8) sat for the nationwide matriculation examination of Myanmar for the academic year of 2022-23, according to the country's Ministry of Education.

"It is 90 per cent of the students who had registered for the nationwide matric exam," Thin Nu Nu Sein, an official from the Ministry of Education, told Xinhua.

The figure is compared to 281,751 students sitting for the same exam of last academic year of 2021-22, official data showed.

The nationwide matriculation exam for this academic year, which began on Wednesday, will be held until March 18.

There was a total of 863 exam centres, including five overseas exam centres, set up for the matric exam of this academic year, according to the ministry.
