Lao govt receives 1,000 tonnes of rice for flood victims

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/Asia News Network): The governments of Japan and the Republic of Korea have provided 1,000 tonnes of rice through the Asean Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR+3) for distribution to people in Laos who suffered severe losses during flooding this year and last.

The rice was handed over on Wednesday (Dec 21) by the Director General of the Rice Product Policy Department of Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Tasira Matsumoto, to Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Lee Pao Yang.
