Brunei issues coins commemorating official naming of sea-crossing bridge

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Nov 5 (Xinhua): Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) announced on Friday that it will be issuing commemorative coins in gold, silver and cupronickel in conjunction with the official naming of the Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Bridge, the longest sea-crossing bridge in South-East Asia.

The 30-km bridge, jointly built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), a Chinese state-owned company, and Daelim, a South Korean company, was officially named in honor of the current Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's late father in July 2020 after six years of construction.
