Brunei logs 62.5 per cent trade increase in June 2022


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 16 (Xinhua): Brunei recorded 3.244.1 billion Brunei dollars (US$2.11.3 billin) in total trade for June 2022, a 62.5 per cent year-on-year increase.

The latest International Merchandise Trade Statistics released on Tuesday by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics at the Ministry of Finance and Economy showed that Brunei's exports increased by 61.1 per cent yearly to .775.1 billion Brunei dollars, which was mainly due to the increase in mineral fuel exports.

Mineral fuels also recorded the highest contribution to total exports (76.2 percent) with a value of 1.352 billion Brunei dollars, followed by chemicals at 21.3 per cent.

Imports increased by 64.3 per cent year on year to 1.469 billion Brunei dollars for June 2022.

The highest share of exports in June 2022 went to Malaysia at 30.7 per cent, followed by Australia at 14.4 per cent and Singapore at 12.6 pe rcent.

The highest share of imports came from Malaysia at 23.7 per cent, followed by the United Arab Emirates at 22.9 per cent and Iraq at 10.1 per cent. (1 Brunei dollar equals about US$ 0.71. - Xinhua
