Singapore's PM concludes visit to Brunei; good future expected after exchanging views on bilateral relations with Sultan Hassanal

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 16 (Xinhua): Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong concluded his working visit to Brunei on Saturday evening (July 16) after attending celebrations of the 76th birthday of Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

Lee was accompanied by his wife Ho Ching and Maliki Osman, who is minister in the Prime Minister's Office and second minister for Education and for Foreign Affairs, as well as officials from the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Communications and Information.

During his visit from July 14 to 16, Lee attended the investiture ceremony and the royal banquet, receiving the Most Esteemed Family Order, while Ho Ching received the Most Distinguished Order of Paduka Seri Laila Jasa-First Class from the Sultan.

Lee also met with the Sultan and Bruneian government ministers, exchanging views on bilateral relations, economic cooperation and other regional and global issues of common concern. Lee also visited the Singapore Armed Forces' training facilities in Brunei's Temburong district. - Xinhua
