Marcos Jr appoints Central Bank governnor Diokno as Finance chief


MANILA (Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network): Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno is his pick as the next Finance secretary, President-elect Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr said on Thursday (May 26).

Marcos Jr made the announcement in a sit-down interview with select members of the media.

“It would be appropriate to say that I will be nominating BSP president Ben Diokno for the position of Secretary of Finance. He has already agreed,” Marcos Jr said.

He said Felipe Medalla will replace Diokno as the BSP governor to continue his unexpired term.
