PHNOM PENH (Xinhua): Cambodian anti-drug police have arrested three foreigners for allegedly manufacturing, possessing and trafficking more than 30kg illicit drugs, the National Police said on Wednesday (May 25).
One suspect was arrested at a condo in capital Phnom Penh, and two others were caught in the coastal province of Preah Sihanouk, police said, adding that they were all male and apprehended on May 18.
"A total of 30.4kg drugs and 56.5kg ingredients have been confiscated from the trio," the National Police said on its website.
The seized drugs included heroin, ecstasy, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine, and nimetazepam, police said.
The nation has no death sentence for drug traffickers. Under its law, anyone found guilty of trafficking more than 80gm of drugs could be jailed for life.
According to the Anti-Drug Police Department, Cambodia nabbed 4,602 drug suspects, including 66 foreigners, during the first four months of 2022, seizing 1.55 tonnes of illicit drugs and 173 tonnes of ingredients.
