Brunei's Covid-19 daily cases remain under 200 mark and zero fatalities

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, April 23 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei’s daily new Covid-19 cases continued to stay below the 200-mark on Friday night (April 22) with 150 new cases detected. No Covid-19 fatalities were reported in the past 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 139 were the results from antigen rapid test (ART) while 11 out of 910 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours tested positive. The tally of cases reported in the Sultanate to date is at 140,873.

The figures were shared by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Mohd Amin Liew, who chaired the daily press conference yesterday, on behalf of Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Mohd Isham Jaafar who was occupied with surgery.

“There are two Category 5 cases requiring treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), and no Category 4 cases,” said Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew.

The minister shared that 114 cases have recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 139,523. The number of active cases stands at 1,132, with 22 cases being treated at hospitals, and 1,110 undergoing home self-isolation.

“As of Thursday, 1,123 children aged five to 11 had been vaccinated, bringing the number of vaccinations administered to 14,641, or 34.1 per cent of children within the age group.”

Meanwhile, 63.8 per cent of the populace had received three doses of the vaccination.

As of Thursday, 63.8 percent of Brunei's population has received three doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

The COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer, BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and China's Sinopharm are administered in Brunei.

Currently, 1,132 active cases are being treated and monitored in Brunei, where 139,523 recoveries from Covid-19 have been reported. -
