Laos capital Vientiane remains quiet but Luang Prabang witness large crowds during New Year celebrations

VIENTIANE, April 16 (Vientiane Times/ANN): The streets of Vientiane were quiet while Luang Prabang province witnessed large gatherings for the celebration of Pi Mai Lao or the Lao New Year.

The government’s announcements and orders aimed at preventing the spread of Covid-19 during the traditional celebration of the new year from April 14 to 16 appeared to have been better implemented by the residents of Vientiane and some other provinces.
