Vietnam's economy grows 2.58 per cent in 2021 as foreign direct investment also up 9.2% last year

HANOI, Jan 4 (Xinhua): Vietnam posted a modest gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 2.58 percent in 2021 amid severe impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, lower than the rate of 2.91 per cent in 2020, the country's General Statistics Office has announced.

The sector of agriculture, forestry and fishery grew by 2.9 per cent against the same period last year, while industry and construction grew 4.05 per cent, and services up 1.22 percent. They respectively contributed 13.97 per cent, 63.8 percent and 22.23 per cent to the overall growth, said the office.
