BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 19 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The mobile vaccination programme pulled up at the Lamunin Health Centre in Kampong Lamunin on Monday (Oct 18) marking the first of a three-day programme to inoculate residents in the Tutong District.

Medical Officer Dr Irene Nor Liew said the programme roped in quite a strong crowd, with the queue forming early.

Over 100 individuals had registered before midday, and with the programme running until 2.30pm, more people continued to stream in yesterday. Between 150 to 200 doses of Moderna vaccine were allocated for the day.

Dr Irene said for the second and third day, the number of allocated doses will be divided between the centre and house visits. The house visits will be carried out tomorrow and Thursday.

“Prior to vaccination, the antigen rapid test (ART) will be conducted on individuals who do not have BruHealth or Bru-Hims,” she said.

Speaking to the Bulletin, Nurul Nabilah binti Mohammad Esmandi, 18, from Kampong Bukit Beruang said she opted to get vaccinated to ensure her siblings at home remain protected.

Meanwhile, after five failed attempts to book a vaccination slot, Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) Company Sdn Bhd Transport Department official Jumat bin Haji Ahim was relieved to finally get his first jab on Monday.

Meanwhile, senior citizen Hajah Halimah binti Saidi decided to get inoculated after mulling the fact that she shares a home with her working children, and that she belongs to the ‘high risk’ group.

The Kampong Bukit Sulang resident is thankful for the government decision to run the mobile vaccination programme in her village, making it convenient for her to receive vaccination.

The mobile vaccination service is available from 8am to 2.30pm for village residents and those from the surrounding areas.

The mobile vaccination programme has traversed from Mukim Labi in Belait District to Kampong Menunggol in Brunei-Muara District, before making its way to the Lamunin Health Centre. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
