Brunei business council marks another milestone

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Brunei Darussalam BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BDBEBC) recently marked yet another milestone in promoting Halal economy in the Asean region, by witnessing a Sertu or Syariah cleansing ritual performed by a local logistics services company.

The Sertu cleansing was held at the warehouse facilities owned by Tri-Star Shipping and Trading Company Sdn Bhd at its main office at KM7, Jalan Tutong.

Witnessing the event on behalf of the chairman of the Brunei Darussalam BIMP-EAGA was BDBEBC Deputy Chairman Captain (Rtd) Zailan bin Pehin Datu Kerma Setia Major (Rtd) Dato Seri Laila Jasa Mohd Don, together with the council’s senior members.

The guest of honour congratulated Tri-Star Shipping. He also presented the company with a certificate, as the first logistic services recognised by the BDBEBC for awareness on the importance of Syariah-compliant logistics in contributing towards Brunei Darussalam’s growth in the Halal economy.

Tri-Star Shipping and Trading Company Sdn Bhd General Manager Lim Beng Siong said the company has always been committed to offering services that meet the customers’ needs.

He added, “Tri-Star is proud in its ability to continually upgrade its operating capability and in meeting stringent health, safety, environmental and Syariah-compliant standards.”

Ensuring its logistic services are Syariah-compliant is the next step in the further evolution of the company’s capabilities, enabling it to offer services in the Halal economy supply chain and logistics for Brunei and the BIMP-EAGA Region.

The Sertu cleansing was carried out by WGM Enterprise and HallBru Trading, using the Bersuci Industrial Grade Sertu product launched by the BDBEBC, as part of the Islamic collective duty. - Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network
