Brunei's AMBD renamed Brunei Darussalam Central Bank

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, June 27 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): By command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, His Majesty has consented for Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) to now be known as Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB).

His Majesty also consented for the operation of BDCB to stay at the current premises at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) building in Jalan Commonwealth.

The Brunei Darussalam Central Bank Act 2021 will be enforced beginning today, in place of the previous Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam Act.

His Majesty has also consented to the appointment of members of the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank Board of Directors.

Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman will now be the chairman.

Other members include: Deputy State Mufti Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad, Permanent Secretary (Economy) at the MoFE Dr Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary (Industry) at the MoFE Pengiran Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani, Solicitor General at the Attorney General’s Chambers Hajah Zuraini binti Haji Sharbawi and BDCB Managing Director Hajah Rokiah binti Haji Badar. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
