BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, June 19 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Civil servants must continue to be ready to face complex world challenges, as the public service is a key driver in the country’s growth and development.
Therefore, civil servants should always think progressively and creatively towards improving the quality of services.
This was said by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti Haji Mohd Daud, during the third roadshow held at the Tutong Community Hall Complex yesterday, by the Public Service Department (JPA) of the PMO.
“JPA is the agency responsible in the planning, management and development of human resources in the public service. With the public service landscape increasingly changing, there is a need for public service to take modernisation and transformative steps, and become future ready to keep up with this development,” he said.
“One of the challenges identified in the public service is to focus on efforts in the best human resource management, through the transformation of manual processes into a human resource system (HRS).
“The steps that need to be taken is to rethink the human resource management strategy and what is expected from the HRS unveiled by the Public Service Department, as a Fiscal Consolidation Project with the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) which should be able to overcome these challenges.
“Another dynamic challenge in the Public Service is to review talent management for all levels of the public service, in an effort to achieve more sustainable and resilient human resource planning, management and development.”
The minister expressed his confidence in one of JPA’s efforts through the implementation of the Civil Service Leadership Pipeline (CSLP), as a Leadership Flagship Project in the public service: “It will be able to produce a line of leaders of calibre and quality, and at the same time be able to lead in the public service in the short-and long-term. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
