Philippines' Covid-19 cases soaring - country logs 12,576 new cases, second highest on record, as total surges to 784,043


MANILA, April 3 (Xinhua): The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported on Saturday 12,576 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the South-East Asian country to 784,043.

The active cases ballooned to 165,715 while the death toll climbed to 13,423 after 103 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH said. Saturday's daily total was also Philippines' second highest number of cases on record.
