Brunei warns boat operators, passengers to be safe during N-Day

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD) reminded boats operators and passengers to be vigilant and adhere to boating safety when using water transportation during the National Day celebrations to be held in the capital.

Boat operators and passengers must always wear life jackets even for short journeys. Boat operators must also ensure the life jackets are in good condition and avoid overloading.

All forms of water transportation, particularly boats, are easily exposed to hazards, uncertain weather and unstable water conditions. Life jackets help wearers to keep afloat, so that they can easily be rescued.

Life jackets are at the core of safe boating and one of the essential rules.

Boat operators must comply with safety regulations and requirements enforced by the MPABD.

Adhering to safe boating tips and procedures enforced by the MPABD can minimise risks and prevent drowning. - Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network
