BANGKOK, Nov 1 (The Nation Thailand/ANN): The Ratsadon (People) will organise 11 protest rallies on Sunday, which will take place in six provinces in Thailand as well as abroad, starting in the evening on Sunday.
In Bangkok, a rally will be held at Future Park Rangsit where the pro-democracy protesters were planning to stay overnight, and the other at the Udomsuk intersection, which will have the theme of liberty for the LGBT group.
The protest in Yasothon province will be organised at the Loeng Nok Tha District Office from 4pm to 8pm, while in Chonburi province, a protest will take place at Pattaya Beach Central shopping mall at 5pm.
Saraburi province will have a protest at a public park near a bypass stop, in Si Sa Ket province at the shrine of the city pillar and in Surat Thani province on Naris Bridge.
In New Zealand, the protesters will gather at midnight (local time) at Aotea Square in Auckland, while the protests in the US will take place at The Bean in Chicago, the International Fountain (Space Needle) in Seattle, and King Bhumibol Adulyadej Square in Boston.
Earlier, there was an uproar, when Pro-democracy protest leader Panusaya “Rung” Sithijirawattanakul, who was closely guarded at her room in Praram 9 Hospital, was arrested late on Saturday night (Oct 31) with a warrant issued by the Pathumwan Municipal Court.
Police from Pathumwan Police Station came to the hospital with the arrest warrant for her, for violating the state of the emergency during the Covid-19 pandemic on June 5 and June 22.
Despite her hospitalisation, the police requested her to give them her fingerprints as she will be taken from the hospital on Monday.
After the previous arrest, Panusaya’s hair was cut and dyed black, presumably by the authorities. Her glasses were reportedly broken during the detention.
Meanwhile, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration on Sunday (Nov 1) reported four new cases in quarantine over a 24-hour period.
Among the cases include a 27-year-old Thai woman travelled back from the United Kingdom on Oct 26 and tested positive on Oct 30 in a state quarantine facility in Bangkok.
The others cases were two from Bristish males and another was a Russian businessman.
The total number of confirmed cases in Thailand increased to 3,784 (836 in state quarantine), of whom 133 are in hospital, 3,592 have recovered and been discharged, while 59 have died.
According to Worldometer, as of 10 am on Sunday, the total number of confirmed cases has increased to 46.37 million (up by 475,201), 33.48 million have recovered, 11.7 million are active cases (84,221 in serious condition) and 1.2 million have died (up by 6,488).
Thailand is 147th for most cases in the world, while the US has the most number with 9.4 million, followed by India 8.1 million, Brazil 5.53 million, Russia 1.61 million and France 1.36 million. - The Nation Thailand/Asian News Network
