Brunei tells youth to grab opportunities in govt and private sectors


BRUNEI, Oct 12 (Borneo Bulletin Online/ANN): Youth in the country are encouraged to grab opportunities through platforms that are readily available provided by the government, private sector and the various community organisations in boosting entrepreneurial skills, ideas and innovation.

Over 50 youth from different backgrounds participated in a business talk designed for aspiring entrepreneurs that saw speakers, including successful entrepreneurs and sharing their stories.

They were encouraged to grab the golden opportunity to interact and discuss ideas on entrepreneurship at the Youth Business Talk 2020 yesterday.

Organised jointly by the alumni of the Youth Business Talk and Big BWN at the Kampong Bolkiah Community Development Centre in the capital yesterday, the programme that was incepted since 2011 at the Youth Centre saw distinguished speakers including Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Putera Maharaja Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Ghani bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Dewa Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahim; former permanent secretary at Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Paduka Haji Jemat bin Ampal; and owner of Mix Bros and alumni of Youth Business Talk Ammirul Hakeem bin Rahimeey sharing inspirational stories to motivate the participants and providing more insight and ideas about the business world.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari was also present.

According to the Head of the organiser who is also alumni of the Youth Business Talk Pengiran Kamal Ghadafi bin Pengiran Haji Suhaimi, the event enabled the participants to interact, think, discuss and relay ideas on many issues, and encouraged them to inculcate spirit of patriotism, for long-term impact for themselves and also the country.

The session also saw a question-and-answer session and group activities.
