Laos tests over 40,000 people for Covid-19 since January


VIENTIANE, Sept. 4 (Xinhua): A total of 40,356 people in Laos have received Covid-19 (coronavirus) tests since January, according to a report from the Lao Ministry of Health.

Laos has conducted 40,356 tests for Covid-19 since January, with 22 of them positive and 21 patients have recovered, Phonepaserd Sayamoungkhoun, deputy director general of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control under the Lao Ministry of Health, told a press conference on Friday.

The last patient has been treated in designated hospital -- Mittaphab Hospital (Hospital 150) in the Laos capital Vientiane.

On Thursday, a total of 2,246 people entered Laos through international border checkpoints.

The temperature of each person entering Laos was checked and no one showed signs of fever.

The Lao government has warned people countrywide not to neglect containment and preventive measures.
