KOTA TINGGI: A charred body was found inside a car that had caught fire at Kampung Baru Sungai Rengit near Bandar Penawar here.

A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department said that the department received a distress call regarding the incident at about 5.50am Wednesday.

"A team was deployed to the scene, but the car was almost completely burned," he said adding that the identity of the victim, believed to be a male, was yet to be determined.

He added that the officers were also unable to identify the type of car that was involved and the cause of the incident is currently under investigation

When contacted, Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Rahmat Othman confirmed the incident and said that investigations were underway.
