KUCHING: Sarawak DAP said it is ceasing all communication with PAS and PKR, but is remaining in Pakatan Rakyat.

Its chairman Chong Chieng Jen said the party's state committee decided to dissociate itself from activities with PAS and PKR until the two parties had clarified their respective stands on hudud law.

He said Sarawak DAP would leave Pakatan if the PAS ulama group, which had been pushing for hudud, assumed power in the party after its elections in June next year.

"If the liberal progressive (faction) controls (the PAS central committee), there is no reason for us to go out," he said Saturday.

He said PKR was ambiguous on its stand over the implementation of hudud law, and the move was meant to send a strong message to DAP's Pakatan partners to be clear about their position.

"The decision to quit (Pakatan) is a point of no return. Before we go to that point of no return, we have to keep our options open. At the same time, make our stand very clear," he added. - Bernama
