PETALING JAYA: A construction worker was stunned after he accidentally dug up skeletal remains of an ex-convict at a site near Taman Medan here.

District OCPD Asst Comm Azmi Abu Kassim said police received a report by a man identified as Chow Yew Hoou on Tuesday noon, alerting them of the incident.

“Chow found the remains underneath the stairway on the ground floor of the once abandoned condominium site.

“A police forensics team was dispatched to the scene,” he added.

ACP Azmi said they recovered a pair of pants, believed to have been those of the deceased’s, at the scene.

“Inside the pocket of his pants was a wallet containing an ATM card and an identification card belonging to one Othman Ramli.

“Othman was from Batu Gajah, Perak, and had four previous criminal records for theft and drug possession,” he added.

His body was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem.

A staff at the construction site said the condominium was built in 1993 but had since been abandoned.

It is learnt that the condominium recently underwent restoration works.
