The desecrated graves at the Christian cemetery.

PETALING JAYA: At least 15 graves were vandalised at a Christian cemetery in Kampung Tunku, here Thursday.

District OCPD Asst Comm Azmi Abu Kassim said police were alerted of the incident by the cemetery supervisor who is attached to the city council.

"He was first informed by one of the cemetery's caretakers.

"We believe that the incident might have occurred in the wee hours," he said.

ACP Azmi added that checks at the scene found that the vandals had targeted the tombs at the new burial grounds.

"The names of the deceased as well as the crosses were broken by the vandals.

"A police report has been lodged at the nearest station.

"We will do our best to stop these uncivilised people," he said.

He said that most of the structures were believed to have been broken using a heavy tool.
