KOTA KINABALU: Luyang state assemblyman Dr Hiew King Chew, who quit the DAP last September, has joined the MCA.
The former Sabah DAP chief handed over his application to join the MCA to state party chief Wilfred Yong here Friday.
MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, who witnessed the event, said Hiew's move would enable him to serve his Luyang constituents even more effectively.
Welcoming Hiew into the party, Liow described the Luyang representative as a dedicated leader who needed a good platform to serve the people better.
He said MCA had the blessings of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman to accept Hiew into the party.
