FARMERS should consider planting shallots, which are commonly used in Malaysian cuisine, to supplement their income, said Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) president S.M. Mohamed Idris.
“Local farmers think that shallots cannot be grown here due to our weather and soil conditions but they are wrong. We managed to plant 30 shallots on our premises in Jalan Masjid Negri on Jan 6 and successfully harvested them on March 21.
