E-bike factory gutted in fire


PETALING JAYA: An electric motorcycle assembly factory in Sungai Buloh, Selangor, was 80% destroyed in a fire on Tuesday (April 28) evening.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at 6.49pm, with the first fire engine arriving at the scene at 7.05pm.

“The fire involved an electric motorcycle assembly factory measuring 100 by 300 sq ft, with 80% of the premises destroyed.

“Firefighting operations are ongoing and no casualties have been reported,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

A total of 28 personnel from several stations were involved in the operation, including Sungai Buloh, Bukit Jelutong, Damansara, Selayang and TTDI.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
