A 24-YEAR-OLD man from Kelantan is facing a bleak future because one leg has swelled to almost the size of his whole body, reported Utusan Malaysia.
Muhammad Izani Mat Jaih of Kampung Paloh Rawa in Machang is believed to be suffering from elephantiasis, but doctors treating him have yet to confirm this.
He said that over a period of almost 10 years, despite seeking medical treatment, his leg kept on swelling to the point that it now weighs almost 60kg.
“In 2008 I suffered a high fever which lasted for a week. My legs felt itchy, as if I was suffering from a skin disease and the doctors treating me said the problem was not serious,” he said.
The problem worsened over the years and Muhammad Izani’s left leg kept swelling, despite seeking treatment from skin and bone specialists.
He underwent another thorough medical check-up recently, and the result is expected to be known by July 19.
