No politics in Perak Hindu religious affairs panel

THE Perak Hindu religious affairs committee, which will be formed soon, will include members from both the ruling and opposition parties, reported Makkal Osai.

Special adviser to the Mentri Besar Datuk V. Elango said this during the 37th annual general meeting of the Perak Hindu Sangam.

Elango, who is also Perak MIC chairman, said political allegiances should not matter when it came to matters related to Hinduism and the Hindu community in the state.

“There are 527 temples registered in the state, but there are many more which have yet to do so.

“The number of temples is enough to serve the estimated 240,000 Hindus in the state,” he said.

 

> The daily also reported that Malaysian Association of Tradi­tional Indian Medicine president S. Raggupathi has urged practitioners to register themselves.

Since 2016, all practitioners of traditional medicine are required to be registered with the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Council under the Health Ministry.

Raggupathi, who was speaking at a traditional medicine conference on Sunday, said this would regulate the practice.
