BUKIT MERTAJAM: From Petaling Jaya to Penang. And now in Perak.
The probe by police on JJ Poor To Rich (JJPTR) founder Johnson Lee and his alleged money game is continuing.
Lee and his two right-hand men were re-arrested by Taiping police after a magistrate’s court here refused to issue a remand order for them.
Penang Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Asst Comm Abdul Ghani Ahmad said this was to facilitate investigations into a money game case that was reported in Kamunting, Perak.
Earlier yesterday, magistrate Dianne Ningrad Nor Azahar refused a remand application by Penang police when the trio were brought to the court,
The men, who were all handcuffed, were represented by lawyers Mohd Shukri Ahmad Mansor and G. Jaya Prem.
Jaya Prem said the remand was refused because his clients had been remanded over the past six days, adding that they had been cooperative with the police.
“Even after this, they will still give their full cooperation to assist in police investigations.”
According to a police source, six reports, which were classified as cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, had been lodged against Lee in Central Seberang Prai as of Saturday.
In Ipoh, Perak Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Supt Lee Ewe Kiang said a remand order would be sought from a magistrate’s court in Taiping today.
It was reported that Lee and his assistants were picked up by police in Petaling Jaya on May 16.
They were released on police bail in Petaling Jaya last Friday after their remand expired but rearrested on Saturday morning and handed over to Penang police for further investigation into the money scheme.
