39 Youths who stripped for game at motivational camp to be charged

BENTONG: A group of youths took “going back to nature” literally at an eco-resort here when they stripped it all off for a game called “All Out” at a motivational camp.

For playing “naturists”, 39 male participants aged between 19 and 23 were arrested by the police following a tip off.

Photos of the team members in the buff went viral online, with many seen covering their manhood with leaves of various sizes.

Bentong OCPD Supt Mohamad Mansor Mohamad Nor said the group was asked to “make a long line using only materials on their bodies”.

“Some of the participants started undressing and using their clothing to make their line longer. And it got so competitive that most of them ended up totally naked,” he said of the 5.30pm incident on Saturday.

The 39 men were attending a three-day-two-night motivational programme conducted by nine facilitators.

Supt Mohamad Mansor said police were tipped off about the group’s antics that were going on at the resort’s playground

“A police team then went over at about 12.30am (yesterday) but the participants were fully clothed by then.

“We arrested 48 of them, including two women,” he said, adding that they would be investigated under Section 294(a) of the Penal Code for committing obscene acts at a public space. He added that 23 of the participants were students from colleges in Kuala Lumpur.

“Most of the students had been sent by their parents to attend the course,” said Supt Mohamad Mansor.

He also said that according to the resort, it only provided food, equipment and accommodation to the participants and was not aware of the specifics of the activities being conducted. The programme was to run from last Friday to yesterday.

Supt Mohamad Mansor said all suspects were in the process of being released on police bail at press time.

In May 2014, 18 so-called naturists, including six women, took part in nude sports games in Teluk Kampi, Penang.

Their activity was exposed after a five-minute video went viral.

The nudist games included body painting, a relay race and group catwalk. The event was organised by a 46-year-old Malaysian with permanent resident status in Singapore.

On Aug 28 of the same year, six male participants of the nude sports were sentenced by a magistrate’s court to one month’s jail and fined RM5,000 each after they pleaded guilty to the charge.

On May 5 last year, three women and a man were fined RM5,000 each after they pleaded guilty to a similar offence.
