A DOMESTIC helper in Singapore was caught on camera abusing her employer’s 96-year-old mother, including elbowing her head and pressing a pillow hard on her face.

China Press reported that recordings from the closed-circuit television (CCTV) installed in the house revealed that the maid even taped the woman’s mouth shut.

The Indonesian maid, Murni Panengsih, 25, was sentenced to 10 months’ jail on Monday.

According to her employer, Huang Li Zhen, who is in her 50s, her mother was abused at least 15 times for one-and-a-half years.

She said she only discovered about the abuse on Sept 17 last year after checking the CCTV recordings on her handphone.

“I called her up and she apologised.

“She even SMS-ed me to apologise,” Huang said.

Huang said her mother passed away in December last year.

The newspaper did not say why the maid had abused the elderly woman.

> The daily also reported that Hong Kong actor Him Law and actress Tavia Yeung would host a wedding banquet at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Hong Kong on Oct 2.

It is learnt that the couple would only register their marriage on that day.

Earlier, in March, Law and Yeung held a secret ceremony in England and both also attended promotional activities together.

Yeung is busy preparing the wedding banquet, including sending out invitation cards to the guests since Law is still working in China.

He is only expected to be in Hong Kong at the end of the month.
